ONLYOFFICE connector for Alfresco v8.0 comes with PDF editing and PDF form creation

The newest release of the ONLYOFFICE connector for Alfresco introduces powerful features to work with PDF files and create interactive fillable forms in PDF format. Find all the details on updates below.

PDF editing

The latest update introduces PDF editing capabilities directly within ONLYOFFICE Docs, making it easier than ever to work with PDF files in Alfresco Share. Users can take the following actions:

• Edit text;
• Add, rotate, and delete pages;
• Insert and modify images, tables, graphics, shapes, TextArt, hyperlinks, equations, etc.;
• Add annotations via text comments, callouts, pen and highlighter;
• Switch between the Editing and Commenting modes.

Where to find: open your PDF file with ONLYOFFICE and select the Editing or Commenting mode in the upper right corner of the editor.

The updated connector also supports collaborative editing for PDF files. Two collaboration modes are available:

• Strict mode, where your edits are only visible to others after clicking Save, giving you full control over when your changes are shared.
• Fast mode, which allows real-time collaboration, making all changes instantly visible to everyone working on the document.

Where to find: to switch between modes, simply go to the File menu, select Advanced settings, and choose the desired mode under the Collaboration section.

PDF forms

Another feature of the latest update is the ability to create interactive PDF forms. It allows Alfresco users to design professional forms directly in PDF format, for example, contracts, sales agreements, invoices, etc.

Users can now add fillable fields of different types:

• Text fields;
• Combo boxes;
• Dropdown lists;
• Checkboxes;
• Radio buttons;
• Images;
• Signature fields;
• E-mail addresses;
• And others.

Where to find: create a new form by clicking Create and choosing Create a new PDF form.

Other improvements

The version 8.0 of the ONLYOFFICE connector also comes with other improvements:

• Default empty file templates;
• Empty file templates in Finnish, Hebrew, Norwegian, Slovenian;
• Shardkey parameter;
• Updated demo server address;
• Default JWT token lifetime configuration;
• Shortened addresses for conversion and command services.
