As we wrap up 2024, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the most significant features introduced to ONLYOFFICE over the year. From innovative improvements to brand-new capabilities, these features are designed to make collaboration more efficient, secure, and seamless. Here are the top 24 ONLYOFFICE features of 2024.
1. PDF Editor
A major advancement this year was the launch of the ONLYOFFICE PDF Editor. Joining the editors for text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms, the PDF Editor addresses the growing need for comprehensive PDF handling in modern business workflows.
Now, users can modify text, insert and adjust objects like tables, shapes, images, hyperlinks, and equations, and manage pages by adding, rotating, or deleting them. PDF collaboration is also possible for PDFs. By default, the Strict co-editing mode enables paragraph-locking edits saved manually. In contrast, the Fast mode offers real-time co-editing.
In addition, users can now choose between editing mode and annotation mode. The latter brings text comments and annotations via the toolbar, and comments management via the context menu without changing the document itself.
2. Fillable PDF forms & signatures
This year, we’ve switched from DOCXF and OFORM formats to PDF for form creation. This allows users to create interactive documents that can be completed online or through desktop and mobile apps.
Creating fillable forms in PDF format is now possible in editors integrated into the following platforms: Moodle, Confluence, Nextcloud, ownCloud, Alfresco, Odoo, and HumHub.
In addition, image-based signature fields have been introduced. In the future, we plan to add electronic signatures as well.
3. RTL
ONLYOFFICE has taken a step forward in developing support for RTL languages. We implemented improvements such as correct word order and alignment for various text types, and we added support for new languages in the spreadsheet editor.
We will continue to work on further refining this feature to make our product even more accessible to users worldwide.

4. Guests & free users
In version 3.0, we significantly enhanced user management in DocSpace to make collaboration with both external and internal users more seamless. A new Guest type allows external collaborators to view and interact with shared documents without registration.
Regular DocSpace users are now free and unlimited in number.
Besides, user group functionality enables efficient administration by grouping users for easier role assignment and access management. These updates streamline collaboration and simplify access control in DocSpace.

5. AI integration
The pre-Christmas release expanded AI capabilities for editors. In addition to ChatGPT and ZhiPu, users can now select a pre-installed provider (Open AI, Together AI, Mistral, GPT4All (desktop only) or connect any AI model, including local.
Users can assign specific AI models to automate routine tasks like generating texts or translating documents into different languages.
All Artificial Intelligence settings and features are now grouped in a new AI tab for easy and intuitive use.
6. One million connections during load test
In a groundbreaking achievement, performance was validated through successful load tests that demonstrated the ability to handle 1 million simultaneous connections during Docs Shards Kubernetes load tests. This robust scalability ensures that ONLYOFFICE can maintain reliable performance even under high-demand scenarios.
7. Form filling rooms
The introduction of Form filling rooms within ONLYOFFICE DocSpace allows users to upload PDF forms, share them for completion, and analyze responses in spreadsheets. Users can create dedicated spaces for specific forms or surveys where collaborators can fill out fields in real time. The collected data can then be automatically compiled into spreadsheets for easy analysis, streamlining data collection processes like leave requests and applications.
8. Virtual data rooms
ONLYOFFICE DocSpace has one more room type — Virtual data rooms, which provide secure management of sensitive business documents with features like indexing for easy retrieval, watermarks for document protection, expiration dates for controlled access duration, and download restrictions — ideal for due diligence processes during mergers or audits. This ensures that sensitive information is shared securely while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
9. Odoo Templates
A notable feature introduced in 2024 is the integration app Odoo Templates which enables users to create custom fillable form templates directly within the Odoo platform. This integration allows users to design templates that automatically populate with relevant Odoo data, streamlining the form generation process. Users can easily create and edit templates in the ONLYOFFICE editor, linking Odoo fields for efficient data collection. Ready forms can be printed directly from Odoo, enhancing workflow efficiency and accuracy.
10. Range protection
For spreadsheets, we enhanced data security. Users can now protect sensitive information by restricting editing or viewing access to specific cells or ranges for different user groups. This feature is particularly useful in collaborative environments where multiple users may have access to a document but should not alter certain critical data points. Administrators can set permissions at a granular level, ensuring that sensitive information remains confidential while still allowing collaboration on other parts of the document.
11. Smooth scrolling
In response to user feedback, we have improved the navigation of large spreadsheets with smooth scrolling, allowing users to navigate extensive datasets more smoothly and efficiently.
Additionally, the introduction of iterative calculations enables users to effectively manage circular references, which is particularly beneficial for complex financial models that rely on interdependent calculations.
Other new features include the Goal Seek function, Chart wizard, Series, Track changes, and GETPIVOT and IMPORTRANGE functions.
12. Slide Master
The introduction of Slide Master helps maintain design consistency across presentations by allowing users to set a uniform layout and style for all slides within a presentation deck. This ensures that branding elements remain consistent throughout the presentation without formatting each slide individually. Additionally, the ability to draw on slides during presentations enhances interactivity; presenters can highlight key points or annotate slides, making discussions more engaging.
13. Extended template library
We’ve expanded our library of free templates. It now offers not only forms, but also templates for text documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. These templates cover a wide range of categories – from business reports to educational materials and holiday theme templates – helping users save time on formatting.

14. Zoom integration
This year, ONLYOFFICE DocSpace marks the first integration with Zoom, enabling seamless document collaboration during video meetings. It allows users to create, edit, and share documents directly within Zoom Meetings, transforming video calls into interactive workspaces.
The files created during a meeting are automatically saved in DocSpace and are accessible at any time afterward.
15. ONLYOFFICE DocSpace Developer
DocSpace Developer allows embedding DocSpace into custom web applications under specific branding guidelines. End users get multiple room types for file storage and collaboration and enhanced security. Developers benefit from open API, JavaScript SDK, webhooks, and ready-to-use integrations for platforms like Zoom, WordPress, and Zapier.
This offers flexible document collaboration capabilities tailored for various platforms while ensuring that organizations maintain control over their branding and user experience.
16. Public rooms updates
Introduced last year, in 2024 Public rooms have received an update with support for third-party storage solutions and enhanced sharing capabilities. You can now share Public Rooms with external users for editing, viewing, and commenting without requiring them to create a DocSpace account, making it easier to collaborate with partners and customers.
Moreover, Public rooms can be stored in third-party services, such as Google Drive, One Drive, Box, Dropbox, kDrive, Nextcloud, ownCloud, or any other supported service.
17. Touchscreen editing in Desktop Editors
Touchscreen editing was another innovation this year, bringing enhanced accessibility to modern devices. This allows seamless switching between touch and mouse inputs on touch-enabled devices, creating a more intuitive and flexible editing experience.
18. DocSpace integrations via Zapier
Automation became a major theme in 2024 with the integration of ONLYOFFICE into the Zapier ecosystem. This enabled seamless connectivity with platforms like Slack, Trello, Hubspot, Pipedrive, Asana, and Discord, empowering users to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
In addition, new integrations extendes ONLYOFFICE’s reach:
- WordPress: to embed DocSpace documents and folders into WordPress websites;
- Drupal: to collaborate on rooms and files directly within Drupal pages;
- Pipedrive: to securely manage and share office files for each Deal in Pipedrive.
19. Field codes in Document Editor
