Meet the ONLYOFFICE connector v1.2.0 for Confluence Cloud: edit and collaborate on PDF files
The latest version of the ONLYOFFICE connector for Confluence Cloud has brought an important update to Confluence users allowing them to edit and collaborate on PDFs in real time. Read this post to learn more about this improvement and other new features in the integration.
Work on PDF files
While the initial release of the ONLYOFFICE connector for Confluence Cloud made it possible to open PDF files for viewing only, version v1.2.0 revolutionizes the way Confluence users deal with PDFs by unlocking all the features and tools of ONLYOFFICE PDF Editor.
Starting from version v1.2.0, you can edit your PDFs in different ways after switching to the Editing mode:
- Edit the existing text in your files and add new horizontal and vertical text boxes;
- Insert and modify various objects, such as tables, shapes, images, hyperlinks, equations and TextArts;
- Rotate pages, add new ones and delete those you no longer need.
Apart from editing, now you can also annotate your PDFs. For example, you can highlight, underline and cross out words and sentences, leave comments and freehand drawings.
Another important feature is the ability to deal with fillable PDF forms within the Confluence platform. Version 1.2.0 allows you to create and edit such forms by adding interactive fields, like text areas, images, combo boxes, drop-down lists, checkboxes, radio buttons, complex fields, signatures, etc.
Also, when working with other Confluence users, it’s possible to co-edit the same PDF file in real time. Starting from version 1.2.0, you are allowed to work in the default Strict mode and save your changes manually. You can also activate the Fast mode to see all edits in real time.

Create new office files
In the latest version of the ONLYOFFICE connector for Confluence Cloud, there is a new option which lets you create new documents, spreadsheets, presentations and fillable PDF forms from scratch. This is a huge improvement since the previous version didn’t allow you to do that.
To create a new office file, just click the New document button in your Space.
After that, you will be offered to choose the required file type and enter a name for your file. To finish the process, click the Create button, and your file will open in the ONLYOFFICE editor.
Add external links to cells in your spreadsheets
In version 1.2.0, you can add an external link to a cell or a range of cells in your spreadsheet. If the data in the source spreadsheet changes, you can update the corresponding values in the destination file without copying anything manually. You can manage all external links and update values using the External Links option on the Data tab.
Read this guide in our Help Center to learn how to add external links to your Excel spreadsheets.
Support for user avatars
When working in a big team, sometimes it’s important to know who else is editing the same file right now. Version 1.2.0 supports user avatars in the ONLYOFFICE editors so you can visually recognize other co-authors if you click the avatar button in the upper right corner of the editor’s interface.
More supported formats
The updated ONLYOFFICE connector is compatible with plenty of new formats. When it comes to editing, it now supports the following formats:
- Text documents: DOCM, DOCX, DOTM, DOTX;
- Spreadsheets: XLSM, XLSX, XLTM, XLTX;
- Presentations: POTM, POTX, PPSM, PPSX, PPTM, PPTX;
- Other office files: PDF.
Besides, new formats are available for viewing, such as WPS, STW, XLSB, SXI and more. You can check the full list on GitHub.
