ONLYOFFICE DocSpace and Discord integration: what it is about

Automate your workflow through Zaps

The integration between ONLYOFFICE DocSpace and Discord is made possible thanks to Zapier, a powerful automation tool that streamlines repetitive tasks across multiple applications without the need for coding.

These automations, known as Zaps, operate on a straightforward principle: when an event occurs in one app, Zapier triggers a specific action in another app, creating an efficient workflow between the two platforms.

Zapier supports the integration of ONLYOFFICE DocSpace with other apps like Slack, Hubspot, Trello, Zoom, Pipedrive, Gmail, and many others. Find the complete list of ready-to-use Zapier templates on the official DocSpace page.

DocSpace Zaps for Discord

At the moment, Zapier offers the following templates for the integration between DocSpace and Discord:

Setting up the integration between Discord and ONLYOFFICE via Zapier

Let’s see how to set up the integration.

First of all, you have to log in to your Zapier account. If you don’t have one, you can create a new one for free.

Once logged in, you will be redirected to the dashboard. Here, we can connect the apps we chose with our Zapier account. To do so:

Go to the Apps section on the left-side panel. Click + Add connection and search for ONLYOFFICE DocSpace in the list.

Provide your DocSpace URL, email, and password to authorize the connection. To connect, click Yes, Continue to ONLYOFFICE DocSpace.

After completing these steps, ONLYOFFICE DocSpace will appear in your list of connected apps on Zapier.

Now, do the same for Discord.

Once the connection has been added, the following window will open (see on the screenshot below). You will be asked to log in to your Discord account and to choose the server (remember that by server, we mean community spaces that collect different channels) for which you want to create an automation.

If you don’t have a server, go to Discord and create one, then go back to Zapier and select it.

Then, click Continue to authorize.

Now, choose a template from the list on this page and click Try it, or click on Connect these apps to configure the template yourself.

We decided to try the template that automatically creates folders in ONLYOFFICE DocSpace when a new user joins the Discord Server.

After clicking Try this/Try this template, the Zapier editor will open. As you can see, the template is already configured, but you can change the chosen trigger event or Discord account, if you want.

Once everything is set, click Continue.

We have to make sure that the Zap is working properly, and that the Discord settings have been entered correctly. In the Test tab, click Test trigger.

After testing the trigger, you will be asked to select a record.

A record is an action that occurs within your server on Discord. In this case, we must select the record that refers to a new user being added: this will serve as an example for the creation of the Zap.

Choose one, then click Continue with selected record.

Now, let’s test that from ONLYOFFICE DocSpace’s side everything is working well.

In Room id, select the ONLYOFFICE DocSpace’s room you want the folder to be created in, and click Continue. If you didn’t create one yet, you can do it now, then simply refresh the page: you will see the new room in the drop-down menu.

If you want, you can choose a specific folder where the new one will be created.

The entry “Title” relates to a user added to the server, and in our case it refers to the previously chosen record.

Click Continue.

If everything is correct, the Test section will look like this:

Finally, click Publish to activate your Zap.

You will find your new Zap in the Zaps section of your dashboard.

And a new folder named after the user added to the Discord server in your DocSpace:

Congratulations, you have activated your Zap! The process is much easier done than said, and can really be a valuable ally in improving your workflow.
