How to change theme colors working on Word, Excel and PowerPoint files
Have you ever opened a document and thought the colors were just a bit off? Today, we’re going to show you how to change theme colors and give your documents a fresh, personalized look. Whether you want something professional or a bit more fun, changing the theme colors is an easy way to make your work stand out.
What are theme colors?
Theme colors are combinations of different tones and shades that complement each other or blend well together. You can apply them to text, shapes, tables, and other elements within your documents.
This should not be confused with the interface theme/color, which refers to the appearance of the software you are using, or with page color, a feature that lets you choose the color of the entire page of the document.
Choosing the right combination in your documents can improve their appearance and effectiveness. A well chosen color scheme gives your work a polished and professional look, making it more appealing to clients and colleagues: businesses, for example, can use brand colors to help maintain a cohesive identity across all materials. Generally speaking, customizing colors allows you to inject your personality or style into your work, making it unique and engaging.
Today we will see how to change colors using ONLYOFFICE Docs. With the new version 8.1, the extended function is available to change color themes in all types of documents: text documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
How to change theme colors in Excel sheets
To begin with, let’s see how to change theme colors in a spreadsheet.
First of all, open ONLYOFFICE Spreadsheet Editor, and then your document.
Note that you can also apply the new preferences to existing documents created with other editors.
The colors within the table and diagrams were pre-set earlier, so now we will customize them with our choice.
To change a color scheme, first, highlight the elements whose color you want to change, or select the entire document by pressing the Ctrl + A combination.
Now, click the downward arrow next to the Color theme icon on the Layout tab of the top toolbar.
Here you will find a list of color combinations. Choose the one you like and click on it.
The editor will automatically recognize the color patterns in the document and replace them with the new ones.
Once you have selected your preferred color scheme, you can select other tones of the same palette. For example, if you want to choose a different shade for the pie chart, click on the element, then navigate to Shape settings in the toolbar on the right, and finally click on Color.
Similarly, you can do the same to change the font color. In the Home tab, click on the down arrow next to the font color option.
How to change theme colors in Word documents
Now that you know how to change theme colors in the spreadsheet editor, you will have no problem performing the same operation in text documents: the steps to perform are exactly the same.
Open your file in ONLYOFFICE Document Editor. From the Layout tab in the toolbar on top, click Colors and select a combination.
If you have set headings in your text, these will automatically change when you choose a new theme.
As per usual, you will find the selected combination in the font color option.
How to change theme colors in PowerPoint presentations
Finally, let us see how to perform the operation in presentations. The process is just as simple, but with one small difference.
Open your document in ONLYOFFICE Presentation Editor.
In the Home tab, you will find a collection of ready-to-use themes that differ not only in color, but also in decoration and style. Choose the one you prefer.
Once you have set a theme, you can also change the color palette as we did in the other editors. Click on Change color theme in the Home tab, and choose the preferred combination.
By doing so, you will change not only the color of the theme, but also those of the elements within the presentation like schemes, charts and other objects.
