Meet updated Zotero plugin for ONLYOFFICE editors
We have updated our Zotero plugin for creating high-quality bibliographies for papers and books in ONLYOFFICE editors. Version 1.0.1 includes the insertion of citations and bibliography as fields, synchronization with the Zotero service, field-to-text conversion, and bug fixes. Read on for more details.
Insert citations and bibliography as fields
We have added the ability to insert citations and bibliographies in fields instead of plain text. It allows you to automatically add new sources or change the style if necessary. You no longer have to delete text and re-generate the citation or bibliography.
Synchronize data with the Zotero service
The plugin can now synchronize the data in the document with your Zotero library*. If you have changed the sources in your library, you can update the bibliography in your document. Click the bibliography field and then, the Synchronize button on the right-side toolbar.
*The plugin synchronizes only with the user’s personal library. The desired sources must be added to your library in Zotero before you can search and add them to your bibliography.
Convert fields to text
Now you can convert fields to text to make a bibliography or citation appear correctly in other editors without distortion.
Click the field, then on the right-side toolbar click Reconfigure to go back to plugin parameters and Save as text.
How to get the plugin
The plugin* is installed by default in ONLYOFFICE Workspace (both Enterprise and Community Edition), ONLYOFFICE cloud service, and ONLYOFFICE Personal. You can find it in the Plugins tab on the top toolbar.
You may need to update the plugin. To do this, go to the Plugin Manager, find Zotero, and click Update.
Follow the instructions to install it manually for Desktop Editors.
*Please note: to be able to use the new version of the plugin, version 7.3.3 of the ONLYOFFICE editors is required.
How to configure the plugin
To start generating bibliographies, configure the plugin in ONLYOFFICE Document Editor:
- Log into your Zotero account.
- In your document editor, go to the Plugins tab and choose Zotero. The plugin parameters will open on the left-side toolbar.
- Click the Zotero API settings link.
- On the Zotero site, create a new key, copy it, and save it for later use.
- Switch to your document and paste the API key.
- Click Save.
That’s it. Now, you are able to create perfect and complete bibliographies for your papers and academic writings.
