About Gentoo Linux
Gentoo Linux is a Linux-based distribution built around Portage, its own package management system. Using Portage, you can automatically build custom versions of the packages you need from source code making sure you have total control of the software that is installed on your device. With more than 19,000 packages available for installation on Gentoo Linux, you can easily turn this OS into whatever you need — a secure server, development workstation, entertainment system, gaming hub, etc.
The philosophy behind the Gentoo Linux project is to create a “metadistribution” with almost indefinite adaptability capabilities so that all Linux users, from beginners to professionals, can create their own unique operating system equipped with the tools and features they need for a certain application.
Supported by a vibrant community consisting of more than 250 developers and thousands of enthusiasts, Gentoo Linux provides detailed documentation, step-by-step guides, software porting, infrastructure and all the other means so everyone can enjoy it.
