ONLYOFFICE app for Box updated to version 1.1.0: user invitation, conversion of password-protected files and more
Good news for Box users!
We have released a new version of the ONLYOFFICE application for Box, introducing several useful improvements to enhance your document editing experience within the platform. With version 1.1.0, you can invite other Box users right in your documents, convert password-protected files, work with new formats and more. Read this article for more information.
Invite other Box users for collaboration
With the newest version of the ONLYOFFICE app for Box, collaboration has become much more convenient. What this means is that now you can easily and quickly invite other Box users using the + symbol in comments.
To invite someone, just add a comment to your document, add + and enter the email address of the person you want to invite. When you add your comment, an invitation will be sent to the recipient by email. The recipient will be able to open your document by clicking the link from the invitation email.
Please note that all Box users invited via comments can open the documents only for viewing. You can give them editing permission in the Box settings.
Convert password-protected files for editing
Previously, it was impossible to convert password-protected files. With version 1.1.0, the ONLYOFFICE application for Box makes a difference allowing you to convert such files without losing password protection.
To open a password-protected document for conversion, access the context menu by clicking the three dots icon between the Updated and Size parameters, find Integrations and select Open with ONLYOFFICE.
After that, you need to choose either Create an OOXML copy or Open the file for editing if you are going to make some edits. If you opt for the former option, you will be offered to enter the password for your file in the same window, and an OOXML copy of your file will be created. The newly created OOXML file will not be password-protected.
In case you select the Open the file for editing option, you won’t be offered to enter the password right away.
After you click Open, your file will be opened in the ONLYOFFICE editor, allowing you to enter the password in the corresponding field. Just click OK and start editing your password-protected file.
Choose the required file type when converting XML
Another improvement introduced by version 1.1.0 is the ability to choose the required file type when converting XML* files. When you open such a file with ONLYOFFICE for editing, you will need to select either DOCUMENT or SPREADSHEET depending on your needs.
*XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a markup language and file format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. It is used for storing and transmitting data between computer systems.
Other updates
- Saving the format of dates and regional currencies when spreadsheets are converted to PDF;
- Extended list of supported formats.
