Unlocking career potential: Fiona Zhang’s internship experience at ONLYOFFICE

Overview

Please briefly introduce yourself.

I’m Fiona Zhang, currently pursuing a master’s degree in liberal arts at a university in China and preparing for the autumn recruitment. I previously interned as a PR specialist at ONLYOFFICE and have also gained experience working at several large companies, including JD.com, NetEase, and Xiaohongshu.

How did you get this offer?

I noticed the recruitment information for ONLYOFFICE online and then submitted my resume. After passing the initial resume screening, I went through a simple assessment and entered the training phase. Following that, I had a formal interview and received the offer after successfully passing it.

Why ONLYOFFICE?

From a company perspective, ONLYOFFICE is an international enterprise with more opportunities. Additionally, ONLYOFFICE allows remote work, which is a rare advantage that helps me balance my work and study life.

Any suggestions on resume submission and interview?

Just go for it! Don’t hesitate to send out your resume—you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain. For interviews, make sure you know your stuff, understand what the role is all about, and show how your skills fit in. And most importantly, stay confident and genuine.

What’s your main responsibilities as a PR intern at ONLYOFFICE?

My work mainly focused on two key areas:

  1. New media operations: ONLYOFFICE entered the Chinese market in 2021, with most of its user base previously being overseas.A major focus now is expanding the company’s presence within China. To support this, I created and distributed marketing content across various channels to boost product and brand visibility and drive conversions.
  2. Product localization: I regularly translated official articles and templates from English into Chinese to ensure the content aligns with local language habits and expressions.

Have you encountered any difficulties or challenges?

At first, I didn’t have a strong data-driven mindset, but I gradually learned and developed this approach.

  • Metric Breakdown: I learned to break down result indicators into process indicators. For example, while high-quality content is a result indicator, process indicators include metrics like display data, interaction data, and engagement data. By monitoring these, I could spot changes in the results early on.
  • Strategy-Driven: I also realized that data should drive strategy. If I noticed significant improvements in display, interaction, or engagement metrics, I would dig deeper to understand what caused the change. For instance, if a piece of content went viral, I’d analyze what made it successful and then adjust our strategies to keep increasing our exposure.

How is the working atmosphere at ONLYOFFICE?

It’s excellent. Everyone is friendly, supportive, and encouraging, which helped me to grow. The working atmosphere is positive, with a focus onon personal development, so there’s no pressure—just open communication and a commitment to getting better.

Growth and suggestions

What insights and growth have you experienced during your internship?

Regarding pressure, I see it as a sign of meaningful challenges and growth. It’s like climbing Mount Everest—though the journey may be tough, the challenges lead to improvement.

What do you think about remote internships?

Remote internships are great for those who can’t relocate or have time constraints. Interns or entry-level employees might handle more routine tasks, but this doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can learn. Growth comes from continuous reflection and optimization. Simply executing without thinking won’t lead to much learning.

How do you balance internship work with study and life?

It’s important to set clear goals and assign priorities to the tasks. Since my goal is to build a career in the internet industry rather than pursuing advanced studies or government work, I focus more on business learning and practical experience. I invest time and energy into these areas while being efficient with academic tasks.

Any advice for future applicants?

ONLYOFFICE is a great company. Be proactive and take action!

Conclusion

Thanks to Fiona’s dedication and the positive, flexible working environment at ONLYOFFICE, she has successfully navigated challenges and experienced significant personal growth. We appreciate her contributions and wish her continued success in the future.
