Video Embedder plugin in ONLYOFFICE: insert videos from Bilibili and other Chinese platforms in one click

Embedding videos makes documents and presentations more engaging. However, many platforms block downloads, making local embedding tricky. The new ONLYOFFICE Video Embedder plugin solves this—now you can quickly add media from top Chinese video hostings to your documents. Read on to learn how to use it.

What is the Video Embedder plugin?

The Video Embedder plugin was developed by Eeshaan Sawant during our plugin development contest. This plugin allows you to embed videos from Bilibili, Youku, QQ, Ixigua, and iQiyi directly into your documents and presentations. No downloads are needed—just paste a link, and the video appears instantly. You can play the video directly in the document without leaving the editor.

How to use the plugin

This plugin is available in ONLYOFFICE online editors. If you haven’t used it before, you can create a free DocSpace account to get started.

Please note: Video playback is not supported in ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors.

Once you’re set up, embedding an online video takes just a few steps. Here’s how it works in the Document Editor:

1. Install the plugin

• Switch to the Plugins tab
• Open the Plugin Manager in the top toolbar and find Video Embedder
• Click Install

• In the Plugins tab, click the Video Embedder icon to launch the plugin.

2. Paste URL and preview

Copy the URL of the online video from one of the supported platforms and paste it into the designated field.

After you click Preview, the plugin checks the URL. If it’s valid, a preview window displays the video.

3. Embed the video

If you’re happy with the preview, click OK to embed the video as an image. Then, double-click the image to play it.
