14th birthday of ONLYOFFICE: 14 fast facts in our annual wrap-up

ONLYOFFICE turned 14. A big thanks to everyone involved — our users, team, partners, and contributors! In this post, we would like to briefly share our news and achievements over the year. Enjoy reading!

Fact 1: 15 years since company launch

And there is no mistake here. In 2009, we founded our company in Riga, Latvia and launched TeamLab for internal use which entered the market a year later.

So, in 2024 we celebrate 15 years of the company launch and 14 years of the ONLYOFFICE project.

Fact 2: Platinum in IT Awards

ONLYOFFICE came first and got Platinum in Cloud Computing Insider Awards 2023, in the category Cloud Content Management. We say our sincerest thanks to everyone involved! It’s a big honor for us!

By the way, we are nominated for IT-Awards for the fourth time in a row. Let’s make it to the winners’ list together!

Fact 3: ONLYOFFICE Docs 8.1 with PDF Editor

In the latest version of ONLYOFFICE Docs, we introduced a full-featured PDF Editor. Along with viewing and annotating, it now also supports text editing, work with pages, inserting of various objects such as shapes, images, hyperlinks, etc. Besides, we completely switched to PDF forms.

Other releases: Docs 7.5 with automatic hyphenation and Screen Readers, Docs 8.0 with RTL and Goal Seek

Fact 4: ONLYOFFICE DocSpace 2.0 with Public rooms

The December release of ONLYOFFICE DocSpace featured the new room type to make work on documents with any third party much easier. In Public rooms, you can invite users via external links to allow them to view files without registration.

Another update: DocSpace 2.5 with user groups and storage management

Fact 5: DocSpace + Zoom

ONLYOFFICE DocSpace app for Zoom allows you to work on any content directly within Zoom Meetings together with other participants. Besides, you can use a DocSpace account to efficiently manage files between meetings.

Fact 7: Android app with collaborative editing

The game-changing ONLYOFFICE Documents 7.5 for Android brought collaborative document editing to your smartphones and tablets.

Other app updates: v7.5 for iOS with multi-column layout, v8.0 for iOS with text document language change, v8.0 for Android with bidirectional text, v8.1 for iOS with better DocSpace integration, v8.1 for Android with LDAP authentication

Fact 8: Powered by AI

The upgraded ChatGPT plugin for ONLYOFFICE became more powerful allowing you to use the capabilities of GPT-4 to correct spelling and grammar mistakes, make your texts shorter or longer and even rewrite them completely.

Besides, we introduced the ZhiPu Copilot Plugin tailored to work seamlessly with Chinese AI.

Fact 9: ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors on Guará Linux

ONLYOFFICE desktop app became the default office suite for 22.000 employees of the Military Police of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

We got a compatibility certificate with the open-source operating system openEuler.

Fact 12: Open source for students

This year, we announced 4 projects at the Open Source Promotion Plan 2024, a major event in China’s open-source community. Stay tuned for the results!
