Introducing the updated ChatGPT plugin: analyze, summarize and translate selected text, generate images and more

With the introduction of the version 7.4 ONLYOFFICE has released an upgraded version of its ChatGPT plugin, aiming to transform the way users communicate and interact on the platform.

New mechanics

To facilitate the new functionality, the entire concept of ONLYOFFICE plugins has been redesigned.

One of the notable additions is the ability to have context menus and multiple windows. This inclusion extends the capabilities of plugins, facilitating customizable scenarios, which enhance versatility and performance.

With multiple windows, context menus, customizable scenarios, and many other possible implementations, users can now enjoy a more versatile and personalized experience.

Generate summaries and keywords with the text analysis feature

The enhanced ChatGPT plugin now comes with two useful text analysis features: text summarization and keyword generation.

• Summarize option inserts a concise summary of the selected text.

To use this feature, select the targeted text and choose the Summarize option from the Text analysis context menu. The summary will appear below the entire text:

•  Keywords option helps identify important key points.

To use this feature, select the text for keyword extraction and choose the Keywords option from the Text analysis context menu:

Explore the meaning of words with the word analysis feature

The ChatGPT plugin also introduces a word analysis feature, offering users two options.

• Explain text in comment reveals the meaning of a selected word by leaving a comment:

To use this feature, select the word and choose the Explain text in comment option from the Word analysis context menu:

• Explain text in hyperlink option takes word analysis a step further by allowing users to embed a link into the selected word.

To use this feature, select the word and choose the Explain text in hyperlink option from the Word analysis context menu. The hyperlink will be embedded into the selected word:

Translate the selected text into French or German

Also, the ChatGPT plugin includes a translation feature.

To use this feature, select the targeted text and choose Translate to <language> from the Translate context menu:

Generate images

The ChatGPT plugin now allows users to generate images based on the selected text. It provides a seamless and intuitive experience for visual content creation:

Find synonyms for the selected words

In addition, the ChatGPT plugin includes a scenario for synonyms. The scenario facilitates generating synonyms for the commented words. This new feature enhances language capabilities, providing users with alternative word choices.

To use this feature, select the commented word and choose Thesaurus from the ChatGPT context menu:

Invoke ChatGPT chat from anywhere in the document

With the inclusion of context menus, now users can invoke ChatGPT chat from anywhere in the document:

How to install

Installation via Plugin Manager:

• Go to the Plugins tab and open the Plugin Manager.
• Go to the Marketplace tab.
• Search for the ChatGPT plugin via the Search bar on the right.
• Click Install.

Manual installation:

• Find and download the ChatGPT plugin from the ONLYOFFICE plugin repository.
• Archive the plugin files (it must contain config.json, index.html, and pluginCode.js)
• Change the file extension to .plugin.
• Go to the Plugins tab, click Settings >> Add plugin, browse for the .plugin file.
