Leading German technological institute launches ONLYOFFICE in bwSync&Share

After a year-long trial period, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has deployed the full-featured online office suite ONLYOFFICE. The news was announced in the PowerFolder official blog. Online editors are integrated into the German nationwide online storage service bwSync&Share based on the PowerFolder Sync&Share solution.

From now on all students and employees of the higher education institutions across the German state Baden-Württemberg as well as of the University of Rostock can edit documents right in the cloud thanks to the new integrated office suite.

The text document, online excel sheet or presentation is opened in the new browser tab after clicking it. There is no need to install ONLYOFFICE on user devices. Multiple users from different locations will be able to edit the same document online simultaneously. Changes made by others are highlighted with different colours. The integrated chat and comments features make collaboration much easier.

KIT deployed bwSync&Share on January 1, 2014. This online storage service is based on the trusted PowerFolder File Sync&Share solution developed in cooperation with dal33t GmbH, a software developer from Düsseldorf, Germany. dal33t GmbH integrated ONLYOFFICE into PowerFolder in spring 2016. The German developer undertook a multi-stage testing and choose ONLYOFFICE due to its high compatibility with existing office products. KIT also ran its own tests and decided to deploy ONLYOFFICE.
